Rhea Tan is the CEO and Founder of BeauteDerm, a beauty brand empowering women with innovative products and promoting self-care. As a trailblazer and inspiration to many, Rhea continues to revolutionize the beauty industry and empower women to look and feel their best.
We had the privilege of having a quick chat with Rhea, where she shared her insights and experiences into her journey as an entrepreneur and her passion for her craft. Here are some highlights from our conversation:
How did you start your journey as one of the most successful businesswomen in the country?
It all began with a capital of Php3,500. While I was working for an appliance company as the VP for Marketing, I started what would later turn out to be Beautéderm as just a side hustle. My hobby turned into a profitable venture, showing a lot of potential years ago. This led me to quit my corporate job and focus on the business. From offering product exchange deals with willing celebrities, I now have almost 100 brand ambassadors, and the number of physical stores is growing all over the Philippines.
What are the most memorable parts of your journey?
What I consider the highlights of my journey are the construction of the main Beautéderm Headquarters that houses my other business ventures, Beauté Beanery and A-list Avenue. It is solid proof of hard work and perseverance. This may sound cheesy, but I find joy and feel pride whenever I get feedback about our products changing lives because of improved skin and transforming lives too as our sales force grows bigger. I can say that I am blessed to have people around me who help bring out the best in me and my business.
On top of my list is the number of scholars I support these days. From 10 scholars in 2020, we now have 50 scholars in Vigan plus children of BD Employees (up to 3 children).
How do you play and relax for you to live out a bold lifestyle?
These days, spending time with family and friends is very valuable. At this point in my life, a simple home bonding with my closest friends and family fills up my self-love tank. I value my quality time with my kids and mother so much. Pampering sessions at the Beautéhaus are part of my self-care plan.
Who are the women who inspire you and why?
I am inspired by the success and kindness of Sara Blakely, the American entrepreneur and founder behind Spanx, the apparel brand. While she made it to the 100 most influential people in the world, she remains grounded and is known for being generous to her employees and other people. Her business achievements combined with efforts to enrich other lives really made an impact on me.
What message would you like to share with other women who would also like to succeed in life?
You can achieve the dream you conceive. But you have to put in the work. That is the message I want other women to realize. We are unstoppable if we put our hearts and minds into something of real value. Every woman should never stop dreaming, no matter where she is in life. In any success, we just have to give it our best and trust the process.
